Evidence of a chapel.

There is graffiti on the walls referencing the Alpha and Omega, and Jesus being the anchor of our souls.

​There may be evidence of supports for arches of a Byzantine church along with niches which may have held roof support beams.

Another cross is carved on the outside wall of the tomb, to the left and just above the height of the doorway.

As we see from the photo on the left of John Lingham pointing to.

This was a very early Christian symbol and may indicate a first-century veneration of the tomb site.
